Happy birthday Nicolbria!

Today is Nicolbria's 18th birthday! I got Nicole in 2006 as a training level prospect, and despite all the trouble she causes, we've had a journey together. She's the first horse i taught pirouettes and changes, and she's given me Hava and will give me a Sir Sinclair foal in 2014! She's spending today bossing around Hava in their paddock, her favorite activity.

TG's getting ready!

Joutunheimen's TopGear 82 is ready for his next competition! He's been schooling up to 3' and has been working on footwork to prepare him for more complex questions. He will probably compete Novice! He's a pretty special horse, so wish him luck!

Happy mother 's day from Nicolbria and Ponie, the mother horses of Maat van Uitert Dressage! Nicolbria is the mother of Hava and the 2014 foal by Sir Sinclair. Ponie is the mother of a little appaloosa colt. A special happy mothers day to Sporting Chance Farm's Divine SCF, who will hopefully give us a 2014 foal by De Niro!

Ponie had her baby!

Ponie had her baby this morning, a little colt with a blaze and a blanket on his bum! No signs she was going to deliver, until there was suddenly a beautiful colt in her stall! Mamma and baby are doing well. Haven't got a name for this baby yet!

And now we wait. Breeding updates!

Nicolbria has been bred to Sir Sinclair for a 2014 foal! She was inseminated yesterday, and double checked today for ovulation. Several oxytocin shots later (including some dished out at ungodly hours), we now wait 14 days to see if she's in foal! Here's hoping! I also had to witness a caslick surgery, and if you've never seen that, count yourself lucky.

We are still waiting for Ponie's 2013 foal to be born. Sweet baby is taking it's time, although Ponie is starting to bag up. We all know how that goes, though! Ponie is currently in Pennsylvania, since I was advised to not move her until she foals.

I'm also waiting for Sporting Chance Farm's Divine SCF to foal. I've ordered a custom foal out of Divine (if one can "order" such a thing). Together Karin and I decided to breed Divine to De Niro for a 2014 foal. Divine is set to foal May 7, but we all know how that goes! Fingers crossed she foals safely.

Clinics in Ocala starting in May

Starting in May, I'll be teaching monthly clinics at Sabrina Morris Massage at Bayfield Farm, just outside Ocala, FL! This is an excellent opportunity to brush up on your basic dressage skills or to perfect your test before your next dressage competition or event. I'll be helping Sabrina, a two star competitor, with her competition string, so this is an excellent opportunity to watch both young and trained horses work on the dressage phase. New season, new farm

Starting May 1, we will add another farm to our business. The new farm is in Loxahatchee, conveniently off of Seminole Pratt. Situated on 9 acres, our farm has several turn out pastures, a round pen of sand over blue stone, a regulation dressage arena of sand over blue stone, European-style 12x12 matted stalls, pavilions for cook outs and on the pond, and several other creature comforts. The stalls have automatic waterers, and are screened in to keep the fly population low, and the barn is insulated so it stays cool in the summer. There are cameras for the stalls and some of the pastures so you can see the horses over the internet.

We are accepting horses for sale or training at this location, and have 3 stalls available. We are also accepting haul-ins for lessons. Hava and Nicolbria

Hava is growing up and its amazing how much she is starting to look like her mother, Nicolbria! She will be one year old in May.

Unfortunately she's in the fugly yearling stage and has a full winter coat in this photo!

New addition to the team...sort of.

Last week I made the decision to purchase a pregnant mare from the kill pen at New Holland in Pennsylvania. Although not the most financially intelligent decision I've made, I feel comfortable knowing i made the right decision.

Even though I wasn't 100% certain she is preggers, I estimated I was buying a mare that was about 6 months along based on her photos. The vet has determined the mare will birth in the next week or two, which was not obvious in the photos because the mare is so under weight. She felt the nose of the foal during her exam, so hopefully the foal is in a good position.

Cronan named the mare "Ponie" since I was told she is a Pony of the Americas (although now I'm doubtful). She's at a quarantine station in Pennsylvania, and I'm getting daily updates about her.

She's getting vet care and is at a farm that can help her foal out. She's on free choice hay with alfalfa, and Purina mare and foal. She's also getting Platinum Performance.

Joutunheimen's Chamonix SSH in the ribbons at Ocala Horse Properties International 3 Day Event!

On April 12, Chammy competed in the Future Event Horse class at Ocala Horse Properties International Three Day Event, and brought home 5th place, and was the highest placed stallion in his division! This was Chammy's second ever show, and he was very brave with the golf carts whizzing around. He was a gentleman in the arena, and the judges said lots of nice things about him!  Congrats to Seguin Sporthorses for producing such a nice fellow, and thank you to Meredyth South for sponsoring the Future Event Horse class!

Happy Birthday Jotunheimen's Chamonix SSH

On April 3, Joutunheimen's Chamonix SSH will turn 3! Maat bought Chammy when he was just 6 months old from Seguin Sporthorses as a Holsteiner stallion prospect, and it's been quite a journey so far. He's gone from being given premium status at his AHHA approvals, to a gangly 2 year old, to a confident young horse under saddle! His future is bright and we look forward to being a part of his sporthorse and breeding future!

Top Gear will be known by his new official show name, "Jotunheimen's Top Gear 82" for the 2013 competition season!

He's enjoying the warm weather and sun in Wellington, and has started to school second level shoulder ins and counter canter after 6 months in training! He's a super smart and willing horse, who's capable of doing FEI dressage.

He's still for sale, and is in full training with Maat, who is a USDF gold medalist, for dressage.

TG has started to settle in to life in south Florida, starting with a new clip job. He wasn't too sure about getting clipped, but he's a good guy and let us do it anyway. He's in Wellington for some dressage training before going to Ocala for spring eventing!

Chamonix SSH has been backed!

Today Chamonix SSH became a real horse! He has been backed, and was a very good boy! Unfortunately no photos since Cronan was holding him, and I was the guinea pig doing the backing. I've owned Chammy since he was 6 months old, so its been a long journey so far for us, and today was certainly a special day in our relationship.

He had been well prepared over the past year for this moment. He has a very good mind especially for a 3yo stallion, and i suggest anyone looking for a nice youngster with a good temperament consider a horse from Seguin Sporthorses (www.seguinsporthorses.com), who bred Chammy. Lisa and David breed to produce versatile youngsters with good minds. Chammy is well on his way to becoming a dressage superstar!

TG has arrived!

Top Gear has arrived at our Florida farm! The trip was almost 24 hours, but he traveled in style in a box stall in our 4 horse. He's kind of a nervous guy in new settings, so I'm hoping he doesn't lose weight from the trip. A typical OTTB, he's a hard keeper.

Updates on the team super star horses!

Sublime is quickly in tow to prepare for the Developing PSG and FEI PSG/I1 classes. Chamonix SSH gets backed next month after his 3rd birthday on April 3! TG will take over Nikita's stall at my place for some dressage/getting used to Florida training before going to Ocala to become the next super star of my team!

Getting ready for breeding season!

Baby mamma Nicolbria has been given a clean bill of health, and we're ready to start this year's breeding to Sir Sinclair! Current plan is for Nicole to be transported to Seguin Sporthorses in Seguin, TX (breeders of Chamonix SSH), where she can live outside in the Texas plains with other broodmares and babies!
